Step 1:
Start by placing the pocket piece right sides together with the front piece of the pattern you’re sewing. Pin in place and stitch with a 1.5 cm (5/8 in) seam allowance.
Step 2:
Once stitched, trim the excess fabric, leaving a few millimeters of seam allowance. At the corner, make a small cut without cutting through the stitching to make turning the pocket easier.
Step 3:
Turn the pocket to the inside of the pattern piece and press the seam you just stitched to set it in place.
Step 4:
Once pressed, stitch a seam parallel to the edge at few millimeters from it. This will help prevent the pocket from flipping and the lining from showing once the final garment is sewn.
